It is the policy of this office to provide wellness-based health care to the community using a Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) construct to analyze and categorize a subluxation complex. Because of this unique practice style, it is difficult to provide traditional CPT coding to describe the many evaluative and treatment based services provided in a typical office visit. A routine (established patient) office visit in this office might contain one or more of the following:

 

• Acupressure

• Nutritional counseling

• SOT and other chiropractic spinal techniques

• Standard evaluation and management professional services

• Soft tissue mobilization that may include Instrument Assisted techniques, such as Graston

 

It is also the policy of this office never to directly bill third-party payers on behalf of patients. Our patients are notified of and agree to this policy before beginning treatment protocols here. We do provide standard receipts that outline the service rendered for the patient's needs.
 

Due to the non-traditional aspect of the treatment provided here, we have elected to describe the services rendered using time-based evaluation and management (E/M) coding. We strive to meet the standard of E/M coding guidelines but declare that we utilize the time component to code the service. We have also elected to bundle all treatment that is delivered during a standard, established patient visit, into the cost of the office visit below. We do not additionally itemize the treatment for billing purposes, but the patient's health record reflects all services rendered along with the time spent. Our coding and billing fee schedule is as follows:

New Patient Visits

• Approximately 60 minutes - 99202 $ 95.00

Established Patients

• Approximately 15 - 30 minutes - 99212 $ 65.00

• Approximately 30 - 45 minutes - 99213 $ 95.00

• Approximately 45 - 60 minutes - 99214 $ 125.00

• Approximately 60 - 90 minutes - 99215 $ 155.00

 
We dispense nutritional products and certain durable medical goods from this office. Patients are charged
the cost of these items in addition to the office visit charges.
